·         1963 - Lutheran Board of American Missions calls Pastor Chuck Lewis to serve the North Beach Mission and gay men in San Francisco

·         June 12, 1966 - Ordination of Pastor Paul Brenner†

·         1968 - Ordination of Pastor Donn Rosenauer

·         1970 - Lutheran Church in America releases a statement naming homosexuality as a sin, but calling the church to work for justice for "homosexual persons.”

·         1972 - Ordination of Pastor Nate Gruel

·         1974 - Lutherans Concerned (now ReconcilingWorks) is founded

·         1974 - Ordination of Pastor Jonathon Abernethy-Deppe

·         1971 - Ordination of Pastor Arlo Peterson

·         1974 - Ordination of Pastor Daniel Hooper

·         1975 - Ordination of Pastor Robert Goldstein

·         1975 - American Lutheran Church gave Lutherans Concerned a $2,000 grant for their work.

·         1976 - Ordination of Pastor Jim Bischoff

·         1977- Ordination of  Seminex graduate, Pastor Michael Lohmann

·         1978 - Ordination of Pastor Pieter Oberholzer

·         1979 - Pastor Dan Harms is elected Bishop three times before bullied into withdrawing his name.

·         1979 - the American Lutheran Church affirms celibate gay people.

·         March 18, 1979 – Ordination of Pastor Ernie Varga

·         June 10, 1979 - Ordination of Pastor Steve Robertson

·         October, 1981 - A poster was placed in the window of a pharmacy at the corner of Castro at 18^th with the words "Gay Cancer.” This began the first communal conversation about what would later be called HIV/AIDS.

·         1983 - Greg Egertson enrolls as an openly gay student at Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary (PLTS)

·         1985 - Ordination of Pastor Steve Sabin

·         1985 - Ordination of Pastor Cindy Witt

·         1986 - Ordination of Pastor Richard Andersen

·         1986 - the Lutheran Church in America encourages congregations to welcome gays and lesbians

·         1987 - Ordination of Pastor Sharon Janot

·         January 1, 1988- the ELCA is formed through merger

·         1988 - Ordination of Pastor Cindy Crane

·         March 23, 1988 - PLTS seminarians Joel Workin†, Jim Lancaster and Jeff Johnson come out to their candidacy committees.

·         1989 - Ordination of Pastor Bradley Schmeling

·         June, 1989 - a policy requiring gay pastors to be celibate is created.

During the Policy:

·         1989 - Pastor John Frickman of First United Lutheran and Pastor Jim Delange of St. Francis create a plan to defy the policy by calling openly gay pastors.

·         January 22, 1990 - Extraordinary Ordination of Pastors Jeff Johnson, Ruth Frost and Phyllis Zillhart

·         1990 – Lutheran Lesbian and Gay Ministries (LLGM) is formed to support ministry by gay and lesbian pastors

·         July 14, 1991 – Ordination of Pastor Dale Poland

·         January 19, 1991 - Ordination of Pastor Jenny Mason

·         1992- Ordination of Pastor Allyn Itterly

·         April 26, 1992 – Ordination of Pastor Jane Ralph

·         June 23, 2003 – Pastor Beth Jarrett is featured in The Spokesman-Review as a pastor of St. Mark’s Lutheran in Spokane

·         July 25, 2004 - Extraordinary Ordination of Pastor Jay Wiesner      

·         August 12, 2005 – 100 protesters, including Amalia Vagts and Pastor Barbara Lundblad,  stood in silent protest of the policy at the Churchwide Assembly in Orlando.

·         October 21, 2006 - Extraordinary Ordination of Pastor Erik Christensen 

·         November 18, 2006 – Extraordinary Ordination of Pastor Megan Rohrer (first openly transgender pastor)

·         2007 – LLGM and ECP merge to form Extraordinary Lutheran Ministries

·         June 16, 2007 – Extraordinary Ordination of Pastor Dawn Roginski

·         2007 – 80 pastors and candidates for ministry came out publicly at the Churchwide Assembly in Chicago, including Candidates for Ministry Jean Hay and Lisa Stenmark, Pastors Jim Boline, Daphne Burt, Darin Easler, Brad Froslee, Dawn Gregg, Susan Halvor, Margaret Kelly, William Knott, Gary LeCroy, Vicki Pedersen and Jeffrey Ziegler.

·         November 17, 2007 - Extraordinary Ordination of Pastor Jen Rude

·         January 19, 2008 - Extraordinary Ordination of Pastor Jen Nagel

·         May 16, 2008 - Extraordinary Ordination of Pastor Lionel Ketola 

·         June 14, 2008 – Ordination of Pastor Kevin Strickland 

·         July 26, 2008 - Extraordinary Ordination of Pastor Lura Groen

·         October 25, 2008 - Extraordinary Ordination of Pastor Jodi Barry 

·         December 6, 2008 – Extraordinary Ordination of Pastor Jay Wilson.  Pastor Jay was called by First United Lutheran Church (FULC) to serve at the Welcome Ministry.  At the time, First United’s pastor, Susan Strouse, was the only straight person included on the historical roster because of her loss of ELCA benefits while serving at FULC.

·         August 17, 2009 – LGBTQ pastors were featured in a devotional given to the members of the Churchwide Assembly in Minneapolis, including: Candidate for ministry Nicole Garcia, Diaconal Minister Lauren Morse-Wendt , and Pastors Christian Jennert, Kevin O’Hara

·         April 24, 2009 – Ordination of Pastor Mark Erson

·         June 20, 2009 – After the Pennsylvania Synod passes a resolution urging the Churchwide Assembly, Pastor Richard Krug voices support for policy change in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

After the Policy:          

·         October 2009 – Ordination of Jason Bense

·         December 7, 2009 – Proclaim members, including Pastor Cindy Coleman, met with Presiding Bishop Mark Hanson to share their story and to welcome members of the historical roster into the ELCA

July 25, 2010:The first worship service to reinstate and roster extraordinarily ordained pastors and those removed from the Lutheran church through trial.
